Summer Training

Individual basketball training tailored to where you are and where you want to go. 60-minute sessions, 1-on-1, scheduled around AAU, other sports, vacations — whatever your summer looks like.

What We Work On

• Ball handling and off-hand development
• Finishing at the rim — both hands, multiple angles
• Footwork, pivots, jab steps, step-backs
• Shooting mechanics and shot selection
• Game situations and decision-making

Coach D

Derek Simmons. I've been coaching basketball for 15 years, starting with my oldest son's first team in California and continuing through every level of youth and high school basketball in Minnesota.

I've coached AAU with Minnesota Heat, D1 Minnesota, and Grassroots Sizzle — where players from my teams went on to play D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and junior college basketball.

I was head coach at East Ridge High School, where my freshman team went 17-2. I served as Basketball Board President and Player Development Director (K-12) for the East Ridge Athletic Association — running camps, a summer shot club, and development programming for 200+ families over two years.

Three-sport athlete in Kansas — state championships in basketball and baseball, and starting quarterback who led the football team to state. My own son was a four-year conference champion, recognized by Prep Hoops as "one of the better shooters on the circuit," and went on to play college basketball.
